The UK Information Commissionaire Office (ICO) fined Advance Computer Software Group £3m, following a data breach in August 2022 that exposed NHS medical records and information on people receiving care at home. The hack appears to have been relatively simple. Compromising Advanced Computer Software Group through an insecure customers account. Which begs the question, that once the customers account was compromised how did the attacker leverage the compromise to gain further access and transverse the network.The attack further highlighted the effect of third party suppliers and resilience of the NHS.
