Finally a reality check on UK cyber security, one could not agree more with the statement – ‘UK underestimates threat of cyber-attacks from hostile states and gangs’A statement that is demonstrated by the December 2023 UK Governments assessment of cyber; by what is not said in the UK about cyber, rather than what is said; by the recent publications by global insurers, as to the challenges faced by the cyber insurance industry; by what is said by UK government ministers (Pat McFadden); by the general lack of understanding that is shown towards cybersecurity across the board rooms of the public and private sector globally; by the adoption of cyber regulation by our U.S and EU partners and by the adoption of cyber as a weapon used by nation states. The UK and its citizens are reliant on digital for every aspect of its daily life. A reliance that has developed far faster than the pace of adoption of cybersecurity risk management. The UK has relied on outdated cybersecurity practices and laws, when our corporate competitive advantage is being eroded as our partners adopt significant cybersecurity regulation. We have underinvested in cyber defense, defence that can only be provided by adopting a whole of society approach, that Chris Inglis discussed back in 2022 for the U.S (https://lnkd.in/e5WivnNf).@Thaddeus Dziekanowski Brian D.
