Citi is to pay $135.6m in penalties for making insufficient progress towards resolving data quality, risk management and internal control issues, highlighted in a 2020 consent order.

The penalty bought by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and Federal Reserve identified a lack of progress towards managing enterprise risk, internal controls and technology risk.

An obvious question one has is if you find it difficult to manage data, manage its location, modernise and consolidate legacy systems.  How does one manage cybersecurity risks?

$135 million a considerable sum, albeit, immaterial to Citi.
