It’s been a challenging week for Critical National Infrastructure outages this week, that include an outage at Change Healthcare, part of the UnitedHealth Group. UnitedHealth promptly filed an 8K to the SEC (https://lnkd.in/ePKvm2vB) reporting a nation state associated threat actor had gained access to some of its IT systems. Taking immediate action to protect partners and patients.

The outage has affected pharmacies and patients across the U.S. highlighting delays in fulfilling prescriptions. It highlights the challenges supply chain cyber attacks have on supply chain networks, disrupting pharmacies across the U.S and consumers.

The 8K was filled quickly, one wonders if is an indication of the effect that the SEC cyber rule has on covered entities. As one could consider a nationwide systems outage a significant issue. Filing ahead of a formal assessment of materiality, sends a positive message to the markets.
