Thank you Cyber Rescue Alliance for sharing my thoughts on cybersecurity risk for 2024. We will have an interesting year ahead as the frequency, and severity of cyber attacks has increased in 2023, and one suspects it will continue into 2024. Both the U.S and UK governments are warning of a significant CNI focused attacks in 2024, cyber regulation comes straight out of the gate in January (the SEC Cyber rule is effective as of today December 15th 2023) and the EU has regulation to come with NIS 2 and DORA. 2024 will see more case law set as cases such as the SolarWinds case progress to either trial or settlement.
One suspects that boards of covered entities will come to terms with the effects of both Left and Right of Bang next year.
