Supply chain cyber attacks seem to be the flavor of the month. As at least 60 credit unions in the U.S are experiencing the effects of a hack on a third party supplier. It appears that a ransomware attack targeted the cloud services provider that provided operations, by the credit union technology firm Trellance.
Last week the UK MSP CTS, that provides services to law firms in the UK was targeted by a suspected ransomware attack. Demonstrating the vulnerabilities of supply chain hacks on the wider value chain that MSPs service.
Hackers pivot quickly to focus on targets and MSPs are likely an easy target as cloud service providers can create concentrate risks for industries. Unless their cybersecurity is robust and well tested. There’s also the shared responsibility model to consider, that many cloud customers are unfamiliar with.
