As posted yesterday the travel industry is a sector that is facing challenges with its cybersecurity, as the latest visible casualty of cyber attacks (https://lnkd.in/ex99_CY8). It’s a sector dependent upon technology, one that is little prepared and one where the visibility of an attack is very public, as demonstrated by the MGM and Caesars hacks.
The volume of traffic and customer integration through the travel industry and lack of cyber investment makes them a prime, visible, and potentially lucrative target. Staff are often poorly trained and cybersecurity maturity low.
It’s not just luxury hotel chains that are targets, but the whole value chain is at risk.
