It catches on quick, does cyber regulation. Especially when you understand that it’s a national security problem. With the Canadians move ahead and implement an equivalent program to the U.S DoD DFARS/ CMMC. Setting aside $25m CND to develop the program.

Practically it should be a simple program to design and deliver. All the Canadians need to do is take the DoD CMMC program, iron out the problems, throw in a little EU NIS and the SEC cybersecurity risk management proposal and they are up and running.

The program makes complete logical sense. As a 5 Eyes member, aligning with U.S DoD cyber policy is a competitive differentiator for the Canadian defence industry.

‘This means that defence contractors doing business in both countries will only need to be certified under a single entity, and it will ensure that Canadian companies can benefit from future procurement opportunities with our allies,€ said the Canadian Defence Minister Anita Anand

One has to ask why it hasn’t yet caught on with all the 5 Eye partner nations, cyber as a competitive driver.
