Well worth a read, as the effects on national security due to cyber were discussed at the Department of Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence this week. (https://lnkd.in/esJ3ZjVG)
It articulates the challenges faced by the U.S as threat actors exploit the interconnectedness of technology to threaten U.S sovereignty. Threaten economic security through a zero sum game approach to global competition seeking to undermine U.S global leadership, national security, economic prosperity and competitiveness. The theft of IP from across U.S CNI providers, underscoring the effects on Americas Global leadership. The use of cyber as a tool in the tool kit along side human intelligence, and joint venture partnerships on a scale unprecedented in the history of the FBI to steal innovation and erode national power.
We are seeing more of these presentations on Capitol hill. demonstrating the use of cyber an offensive tool. One that requires organizations to develop cyber defenses to counter not only the effects of asset theft through ransomware but re-imagine their organizations culture to combat the theft of critical IP that that is eroding national and economic security.
The effects of cyber are national security, further demonstrating cyber is no longer a FUD debate.
