Cybersecurity risk management is rapidly becoming a regulated risk. With U.S, EU and APAC regulators moving quickly to transfer the accountability and responsibility for cybersecurity risk management into board rooms. What differentiates todays cyber regulatory proposals is the requirement for boards to provide oversight and assurance of their organizations cybersecurity risks and attest compliance to both cybersecurity risks and cybersecurity compliance.
This places Internal Auditors in a unique position to provide oversight and assurance of cybersecurity risk management on behalf of their leadership teams and clients. The 3 Line of Defence model provides an appropriate tool for leadership, risk and 3rd line auditor to work together to create the necessary corporate governance. Governance that is required by regulators and boards to demonstrate their compliance to the management of such a complex risk.
The international foot print of the internal audit profession also provides international standards and accreditation that global organizations can rely, when assessing global cybersecurity risk management compliance.
Topics that we were fortunate to present with the IIA U.S and France in 2022 and will discuss with U.S attorneys in support of their CPD starting in April 2023.
