How do you manage cybercrime when it is able to morph between people trafficking and cyber fraud?
Cyber is a very profitable business. It was said in 2021 that the profit margins from ransomware attacks can be likened to the 90%-plus profit margin Colombian cocaine cartels made in 1992. (https://lnkd.in/ef3YE-qs). Whether is a nation state run campaign, a proxy running a campaign or people trafficked into working on cyber fraud cyber covers all the bases.
When gangs are selling people into crime how do you compete against criminal gangs that seem to have a supply of forced labour to run fraud campaigns. We are seeing the cyber model develop with the convergence of people smuggling and cyber crime and a ready supply of people.
