As cybersecurity legislation evolves across US Federal government and regulatory enforcement regimes start to take effect, cyber insurers have an opportunity to educate their clients on cybersecurity and risk management. To support the insured manage the risk.

Cyber insurers are sitting on a double edged sword at the moment and need a way to get off. One one side they have been issuing cyber insurance polices and have seen a rise in loss ratios, and are cutting coverage. On the other they have found it difficult to identify the right data to be able to underwrite what is a fast moving dynamic risk.

In our paper we discuss, ‘Is cyber insurable’ and options for insurers to underwrite the cyber risk inline with changes in US Federal cyber legislation and regulatory enforcement.
