A sizable and healthy $5.6billion returned from recoveries and judgements involving fraud and false claims against the government by the DoJ to year ending 30th September 2021. With 2021 being a pandemic year, that may go some way to explain the $5billion from healthcare. It’s interesting to see that there were nearly 600 whistleblower, or‚ qui tam cases, filed in 2021 reporting settlements and judgments‚ of over $1.6billion.

One wonders what impact the proposed DoJ civil cyber fraud initiative will have going forward. With known issues with cyber standard compliance across federal agencies and a robust Whistle-blower program. The DoJs initiative may make its make in 2022?
