Well worth a read. The Fed has issued its discussion paper on the Digital Dollar. Money and Payments: The U.S. Dollar in the Age of Digital Transformation. Providing clarity on Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs) and their application.

With 91 countries looking at Central Bank owned Digital Currencies, they are on Governmental radars. However cyber and privacy seem to be the biggest threats posed to adoption, with strong IDAM controls to mitigate AML and fraud. But could bring stability to digital assets pegged to national currencies.
