In another example of the implementation of cyber regulations in the US. The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, the Office of Comptroller of Currency (OCC) and Federal Deposit Insurance Company (FDIC) have issued a final ruling requiring covered entities to report ‘a Computer security incident’ to their respective regulators. Reporting within 36 hours, after the institution determines that a notification incident has occurred.
The Financial regulators also expect service providers to financial institutions to notify affected institutions as soon as possible, when they determine that they have experienced a computer security incident. Causing or importantly likely to cause a material service disruption or degradation for four or more hours.
This is a further illustration of Federal agencies and regulators implementing cybersecurity regulations on Critical National Infrastructure.
