An interesting read on recent additions to the Executive Office. Redressing previous changes in cyber security at the top of US government. The article makes some interesting recommendations over and above those outlined by the Cyberspace Solarium Commission for the Office of the National Cyber Defence Director. Setting out amongst other things the role and coordination of offensive and defensive capabilities for the US and overseeing nationwide cyber defence through a National Cyber Defence Center. At a time when US defensive cyber capabilities need improving in light of recent national incidents, such as SolarWinds.
Following the recent release of the UK integrated defence strategy, this article provides a few timely observations on cross government cyber coordination and cyber defence capabilities. Clearly making cyber a government issue and one which requires government level coordination for both offensive and defensive cyber.
