New Orleans has had a tough time over the past 15 years, hurricanes and flooding take their tole. Last Friday the city announced that it had a cyber attack, an example of another municipality in the US to announce that it has suffered an attack this year. Instigating a state of emergency, calling in Federal and State law enforcement and the national guard.

What is obviously a major incident for the county, certainly given the experience of other municipalities over the past couple of years and the actions they have taken.

The incident falls at a time when a report released which identifies the most cyber insecure cities in the US for small businesses. Take it with a pinch of salt. (https://lnkd.in/eV43B8C)

I do ask the question though and it’s a bit like data breaches. Have we become decensortised in general to events like the New Orleans incident? It has made column inches in the US, but outside the US?
