The US visibly spends more money on defense than other country in the world, at over $700bn a year. (https://lnkd.in/eWpsPQf). Their procurement teams are therefore influential and with recent cyber events in their supply chain and concerns over the loss of critical IP, changes are on their way.
Contractors will be a the center of the management of cyber as I published yesterday, with the drive to implement the CMMC framework, which will help to reduce supply chain risk. The speech last week from the US Air force deputy CIO Bill Marion, explained that contractors will be at the center of managing supply chain risks. Vendors will have to enforce cyber security down the supply chain through their 3rd and 4th tiers. Which brings its own data and cyber security challenges as information becomes more visible.
