These types of attack are becoming an inevitable fact of daily business life. Ransomware attacks are costly, not necessarily in terms of paying of the fraudsters; prices vary depending on the type of attack and how targeted it is toward the company. My experience is that remedial costs are the killer, the costs of business continuity management, lost production costs and the fees paid to bring in the experts to sort it out. Let alone the balance sheet damage in the event that you cannot retrieve the data or the incident makes its way into the press.
