Call us now:
The UK has adopted the unfortunate position of not aligning its thinking on cybersecurity regulation with the rest of the world. The Cybersecurity Resilience Bill comprises many words with little substance. The political soundbite of the UK being a centre for cyber is just that soundbites. If it were not too serious, the protection of CNI is a national security responsibility that we are squandering. When all we had to do was lift the regulation off the shelf.
We are doing our industry no favours, as nation states and industry regulators outside of the UK have, and are, implementing cyber regulations that affect the UK industry. The US DoW CMMC program, EU NIS2, and DORA affect UK companies today; they set the standards that we should aspire to.
By the time the UK develops cyber regulation, it will be nationally ineffective at best, and fail to provide UK industry with the tools to manage cyber risk at worst. The pace at which AI is moving, and what ClawdBot, MoltBot, now called OpenClaw have taught us that cybersecurity and AI work hand in glove, affecting markets in hours.
If you read international cyber regulations, I do, they are all the same. Why do we keep thinking we can do better than anyone else?
