The tail effects of the cyber-attack against ION at the end of January are still being felt by markets and regulators globally. The attack also affected regulators such as the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, who have been unable to publish commitment reports to the markets, the Intercontinental Exchange has been unable to produce weekly futures positions and Euronext is playing catchup on derivative reporting.

One suspects the hack will have some unintended consequences, as it demonstrated the obvious reliance on technology, points of failure and the effects of cybersecurity. It also affected financial regulators, who rely on the platforms to evaluate and report on market conditions.
