Are insurers looking to reduce their cyber insurance losses and reduce the exposure to cyber. As ransomware losses mount and the sophistication and frequency of cyber attacks increase, insurers appetite for cyber insurance appears to be waning, with limits falling in 2021.
Cyber is one of the few readily available risk mitigation solutions without which smaller companies, that cannot afford to ‘self insure’ can mitigate cyber risks. Leaving them under insured with few alternatives to manage the risk. The mood music does not look favourable for cyber insurance at present.
Shareholders should be aware that cyber insurance provides a mechanism to protect the balance sheet. Without which their investments are at risk.
