Cyber attacks are a curious thing, a little different to other the run of the mill non-financial risks. Brand and reputational damage will take a long time to tarnish, especially when we are arguably at the beginning of the cyber ‘journey’. The underlying reason why the cyber attacks on BA and Marriott occurred and subsequent action from the ICO; ones of globalization, data dependency and poor security. Will be the reason it won’t be wiped from digital memory easily.

Warning shots have been fired globally that GDPR is now here, irrespective of the fines which are ultimately levied.
